1.2.1. Warehouse Heating SystemsWarehouse Heating Systems are available in several configurations. To keep the winter chill away from your warehouse and to do so cost-effectively, you must match the heater to your facilityīs size and needs - every warehouse will require a different, specific, optimum heating solution. Issues of cost, ventilation and unit placement demand careful consideration. In General, Natural Gas and Propane offer lower operating costs than electric heaters, but Gas-fired and Electric Powered heating systems should both be carefully considered because they each offer so many different options and different advantages/disadvantages. Gas-Fired Warehouse Heating Systems Indirect-Fired Natural Gas Heating Systems - Operating costs for these systems tend to be high due to their gas consumption. They must also be used with other systems such as direct-fired make-up air systems for better ventilation and warm air distribution. Indirect-Fired Air-Rotation Heating Systems - are more energy efficient than unit heaters and are better suited for heating larger warehouses. Indirect-Fired Unit Heaters - are recommended for warehouses less than 10,000 square feet because they offer peak performance and low installation costs Direct-Fired Natural Gas Heating Systems - are a better energy value than Indirect fired systems. They are available in several configurations. Direct-Fired High Temperature-Rise Unit Heaters - are the most energy efficient and lowest cost of the direct-fired heating systems. They replenish indoor air with fresh air and evenly distribute the air through the warehouse. These space heaters consume the least gas and require less maintenance than all the other units. Direct-Fired Low Temperature-Rise Make-Up Air Heaters - bring in and heat 100% outdoor air. This design is ideal for warehouses that must remove large quantities of contaminated indoor air. Direct-fired Makeup air units are more expensive to operate than other direct-fired heaters due to their size Direct-Fired Air Rotation Heaters - are a good choice for warehouses that use mechanical exhaust systems continuously. These systems heat as much as 80% re-circulated indoor air and 20% outdoor air. Direct-Fired Infrared Heaters - offer the advantage of low gas consumption. Larger warehouses will require many gas burners to distribute heat throughout the facility; hence installation and maintenance costs will be high. Warehouses that employ such heaters should be adequately ventilated and should place air curtains at open dock doors. Electric Warehouse Heating Systems
Electric Convection Heating Systems - with electrical heating elements rely on natural air convection and circulation to distribute heat. These heating systems are most appropriate for small facilities or certain areas such as entryways. Also consider using Electric Convection Heaters in applications where flammable vapors are present in your warehouse - these heaters minimizes the risk of explosion due to their lack of an ignition source. For Large Warehouses, Electric Convection Heaters require supplemental ceiling fans, or portable fan units, to provide effective distribution of the heated air around the enclosed space. Electric Forced Air Heating Systems - use a fan to circulate the air. They are more compact than natural convection heaters, and can be installed horizontally or vertically to ceilings or walls to heat larger areas. Because they offer such a wide range of configurations and mounting options, these heaters can be used as primary or supplementary heat sources. Electric Radiant Heating Systems - use infrared energy to directly provide warmth to objects or people, rather than the surrounding air. They offer safe, clean and low-maintenance heating because (apart from heating elements) they donīt have any parts or motors that need repair or replacement. $SAVE$ - On Quality Warehouse Heating Equipment & Parts
