How To Correctly Determine Your Custom Air Filter Size

How To Measure Your Existing Custom Air Filter Dimensions - Applicable To: Fiberglass Disposable Custom Air Filters, Polyester Disposable Custom Air Filters, Pleated Custom Air Filters, & Odor Control Custom Air Filters

1. Measure the largest outside dimension (Length) to the nearest 1/16 inch.
2. Measure the next largest outside dimension (Width) to the nearest 1/16 inch.
3. Measure the actual maximum depth (Thickness) to the nearest 1/16 inch
4. Record any dimensions and part #s printed on your existing filter.
5. Many manufacturers will indicate the "Nominal Dimension"* and the "Actual Dimension" on the filter. Record both of these.

A filterīs "Nominal Dimensions" are usually different from itīs "Actual Dimension". For example, an air filter may have Actual Dimensions of 23 1/2" x 23 1/2" x 1 3/4" and may be commonly referred to as a 24" x 24" x 2" filter.
